Player’s entourage ‘hope to take him to Celtic’ – Move to Brendan Rodgers’ side desired, issue for competitors
Sydney van Hooijdonk is rumoured to be joining Celtic for a stint under Brendan Rodgers, despite recent indications that
Bologna would not be losing him this January.
The Celtic Park supporters will be aware with the striker’s father, Pierre, who recently stated that if another striker were to
join the Serie A team, an exit would be pursued.
That’s what’s going on, as the Italians are attempting to sign Santiago Castro from Vélez Sarsfield, and according to
Corriere di Bologna, the Dutch forward is reportedly in talks to join Celtic.
Although Pierre van Hooijdonk may not be his son’s agent, he is reportedly “clearly very active and influential” in the 23-
year-old’s life, and they are considering moving to Scotland.
The newspaper write that ‘offers have arrived’ for the Bologna striker, with clubs in Turkey, Spain and Holland keen to get
him, while his entourage ‘hope to take him’ to Celtic.
It remains to be seen if this happens before the January transfer window closes, but Brendan Rodgers and his staff have been
searching for some additional assistance over the last few weeks, and Sydney van Hooijdonk is undoubtedly a relatively
simple deal to close at the last minute.
Not only would he be free to go, but people close to him would really like him to end up at Celtic.
