Celtic youngster suffers nightmare injury set back just days after completing loan transfer
Adam Montgomery, a promising young player for Celtic, suffered a severe injury just a few days after joining Motherwell, a
Premiership team, on loan.
This season, the Hoops academy graduate has battled a number of injury concerns that have severely impeded his
development in the first squad.
Montgomery began the season on loan at Fleetwood Town of League One, but throughout his injury-plagued six-month loan
stay in Lancashire, he was only able to make three league appearances.
The 21-year-old was recalled in January and subsequently sent out on loan to Fir Park in the hopes that he would earn
further first team experience that would stand him in good stead to one day compete for a starting place at Parkhead.
In the Steelmen’s hard-fought 3-1 Scottish Cup victory over Alloa, Montgomery contributed an assist just two minutes into
his debut, demonstrating great promise on his full Steelmen debut last weekend.
However, a fresh hamstring injury he suffered during training has dashed his ambitions of having an impact at Motherwell.
The Scottish Sun is aware that the left-back may be out for three months, which would be devastating for Motherwell
considering their current league form.
The Celtic defender will now have scans to determine the extent of the injury, but Stuart Kettlewell, the Well manager, may
now have to add more defensive players in the last week of the January transfer window.
With two games remaining, Ross County, who is currently in 11th place in the Championship, is only two points ahead of
Kettlewell’s team, which is currently ranked ninth. After a sluggish start to the season, Motherwell, who have always been in
the top division, will be motivated to become better.
