Cowboys could land 4-time Pro Bowler to replace Tony Pollard
There will undoubtedly need to be adjustments made if the Dallas Cowboys are sincere about the matters that head coach Mike
McCarthy discussed on Thursday, the day he declared his return to the position despite yet another terrible playoff loss to Green Bay last weekend.
The Cowboys cannot afford to win 12 games in a row in the fall and then falter in the winter when things get hard.
Taking that into consideration, the Cowboys would be wise to replace their running backs (Tony Pollard was a bust).
Being a free agent, Pollard may choose to join with another team.
The best rushing back of his generation, Derrick Henry of the Titans, might replace him in the Cowboys starting lineup.
Without a doubt, Henry will want to win when he selects his next team in free agency.
Despite all of the Cowboys’ shortcomings, the club is plenty of talent, and Henry—a tough-minded, proven workhorse—might be the right match to make that talent into a genuine contender.
Henry declared his desire to win a Super Bowl when he was a guest on the podcast “Bussin’ With the Boys.
” I’m not even close to finished playing. I’m not done yet. I think I can still run for another 2,000, but only time will tell.
Derrick Henry Could Sign Bargain Deal With Cowboys
Sure, Henry is 30 years old, which is considered ancient in running back years.
He might not be the same power back he was in 2020, when he rushed for 2,027 yards, becoming just the eighth player to reach that threshold.
But don’t think for a moment he’s lost his rough-and-tumble touch—Henry rushed for 1,167 yards this season on a bad Titans team.
In the last game of the season, he notched 153 yards on 19 carries.
Henry had four 100-yard games this season, which is four times as many as Pollard did for the Cowboys.
