Rangers linked striker scores 4 goals in 32 minutes before ruling out move

Michy Batyshuayi, a former striker for Chelsea and the Premier League, scored four goals in a 6-0 victory

over Fenerbahce, sparking rumors that the Belgium international might make an unexpected switch to Rangers.

While the legitimacy of those reports have been played down in some quarters, a hat-trick and then some

during a six-goal Fenerbahce victory is unlikely to quieten the clamour for a new centre-forward at Ibrox

during the January transfer window.

The Turkish Super Lig heavyweights turned on the flair against Adanspor as Michy Batshuayi easily

scored in double figures and even reached 13, but Cyriel Dessers battles with consistency as Kemar Roofe

and Danilo battle injuries.

Batshuayi, who previously cost Chelsea an astounding £33 million, proved that his class is indeed very

much permanent as Ismail Kartal’s team easily advanced to the next round of the Turkish Cup. In fact, it

took him just 32 minutes to score four goals.

Rangers reportedly like Michy Batshuayi

“I am happy with the result we got,” smiles the well-travelled poacher, who has also enjoyed spells at

Valencia, Borussia Dortmund and Crystal Palace (Sporx).

“A lot of people talk about rumours, but I am at Fenerbahce. I am focusing (on Fener). My coach and my

team-mates trust me. I try to do my job.”

Fener coach Ismail Kartal was a little more straightforward when he too was asked about the speculation

linking Batshuayi with a potential return to Britain, Rangers boss Philippe Clement making no secret of

his desire for further reinforcements despite the addition of Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves

Four goals in 6-0 Fenerbahce win

“There is nothing about Batshuayi going anywhere,” Kartal tells Haber Turk. “Batshuayi scored three

goals in Kayserispor, and four goals today.

“This is a sweet, beautiful competition. We are very happy that these things are happening.”

As things stand, a left-back appears to be Rangers’ priority rather than another striker. Especially with

Ridvan Yilmaz expected to leave Ibrox before the month is out. Cameron Pring of Bristol City is one

option.

And he did his reputation no harm in midweek. Pring produced an ‘immense’ display in the FA Cup

triumph over West Ham United.
